April King, NASM Certified Personal Trainer

My name is April King -

I'm certified as a Personal Trainer and Nutrition Coach (NASM), Senior Fitness and Sunrise Yoga Instructor (AFAA), have completed a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training (My Vinyasa Practice), and am a Group Fitness Leader at King’s Total Fitness.

My Fitness Journey

As early as I can remember, I was overweight. I used food as comfort. It was what I knew. In school, I could never understand why the other kids didn’t look like me. I would be hesitant to eat in front of them. Fast forward to being an adult and I worked on eating healthier. Each time I tried, it would last for only a few days. I would be hungry and would have “just a little” which turned into a lot. 


In 2013, I decided that enough was enough. I did research on eating healthy. At this point, it was no longer affecting just my health, but my family’s health as well. We found a way of eating that was beneficial to us. We have a large garden and berry plants so that we can experiment with cooking healthy foods that also taste great.


We also raise chickens, turkeys and ducks to support our healthy way of eating. All of the people in my family have been able to maintain a healthy weight since eating a healthier diet. 


A few years ago, my husband and I decided that it was time to add fitness into our new healthy lifestyle. Adding the fitness aspect not only assisted in more weight loss, but we also gained muscle and endurance strength. We had achieved a more positive mindset and enthusiasm for life.


Once you know how it feels to be this happy and healthy, you never want to go back. My family now enjoys many new activities together, such as kayaking and hiking. We are continuously finding new and exciting ways to embrace the healthiest life we can have.

My Why

I decided to become a personal trainer because I know what it is like to be overweight and unhealthy. I was for most of my life. I can identify with the struggles and barriers that people go through on a daily basis.


I strive to use my past experiences and how I overcame the struggles of being overweight and unhealthy to fulfill my passion for helping people. This, along with my professional qualifications, will help people live a healthy lifestyle and be happy. 


I turned my life around and I want to be a leader in health and wellness and help others turn their lives around as well. I believe that a good leader is one who, “Knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”


I am a firm believer in being a lifelong learner and I will continue to follow the path of growth and knowledge to better help myself, and the people I lead, on their fitness journey.

As a personal trainer, I believe that anyone is able to move better and live a happier and healthier life. I will help you identify your goals and guide you in the steps needed to reach your goals, by developing a personalized training program for you.


In addition to the personal training program, I am here to help you keep a positive mindset, as well as help, keep you motivated with your journey. 

At King’s Total Fitness LLC, we believe that anyone can benefit from better movement and encourage everyone to become healthier through movement and having a healthier lifestyle.
